Native Artwork Tour & Reception (Northwest Chapter)

On Sunday, January 11th, members of the California and Northwest Chapters gathered at the Steinbrueck Native Gallery in Seattle for a curator-led tour of Native artwork from the Pacific Northwest, followed by a reception featuring Northwest-style hors d'oeuvres and drinks.

The afternoon began with an intimate tour led by gallery curator Nathan Germain, who guided patrons through a remarkable collection dedicated to enhancing and cultivating the appreciation and awareness of the cultural traditions of the Northwest Coast First Nations peoples. The Steinbrueck Native Gallery serves as a gathering place for artists and appreciators, collectors and scholars alike, and prides itself on featuring works by First Nations artists—both long-established masters and talented emerging voices.

Patrons explored a diverse collection that included ceremonial masks, panels, paddles, drums, rattles, bentwood boxes, limited edition prints, original paintings, baskets, and fine jewelry. The gallery also showcased a selection of Alaskan and Arctic art, including serpentine stone sculptures and Inuit prints and drawings. Each piece told a story of deep cultural tradition, craftsmanship, and living artistic practice.

Following the tour, attendees gathered for a reception with catered Northwest-style hors d'oeuvres and drinks—a warm opportunity for conversation and connection, enriched by the spirit of the artwork they had just experienced.

This special afternoon in Seattle reflected the Patrons' ongoing commitment to engaging with Indigenous art and honoring the cultural legacies that continue to shape and inspire contemporary creativity.
